"From my 21st birthday on I consumed mostly hard liquor, every day.  It tasted awful but it got the job done quicker...it became such a habit that I couldn't imagine my life without it.  In fact, the odd thing is it felt as if I were "drunk" when I was actually sober...My tolerance skyrocketed and I soon learned that I needed more and more alcohol to achieve the same effects.  but, at this point in my life, I needed alcohol simply to survive. "

"As my consumption of alcohol increased, I began to experience its side effects in a real way - not only in my relationships with the people around me and with my job, but also concerning my own health." 

"'Are you Paul?  Paul Ray?'...He proceeded to tell me all about my condition.  He knew about my addiction, as if God Himself were speaking through him.  He asked me if it would be all right for them to pray for me.  With tears and a sense of true gratefulness, I agreed without hesitation."

"...I felt something leave me.  A weight was immediately lifted.  It was as if I were literally a new creation...And best of all, I was absolutely flooded with an overpowering, pure, undefiled love.  It engulfed my entire being. "The strange thing...is that I was not even praying for deliverance.  Perhaps other people were, but if we're honest with ourselves, how often does God really perform physical miracles?  This singular episode in my life speaks volumes of what God has called me out to do in life...I had but little faith and had given up on God.  Nevertheless, He reached out in love even when I basically spat in His face! "

"I was standing in the aisle in the back of the church and Mary, covered in light and appearing almost transparent, was about ten or fifteen rows in front of me standing among a bunch of little children.

" These children were all laughing, playing, and hugging Mary, while I just watched all of this play out. I then approached her myself, once all the children left, and just stood next to her.

Work Continues on A New Voice for a Broken Soul by Catholic Author and Speaker Paul A. Ray

Paul's account of God's miraculous and unfathomable love and mercy is a reminder to us all that we are loved and valued beyond measure.

Joseph Karl Publishing joined forces with award-winning graphic designer Roseann Nieman this morning to finalize work on the life-changing book "A New Voice for a Broken Soul," by Catholic author and speaker Paul A. Ray. The front cover, still under wraps for now, is every bit worthy of the contents of the book, which confirm that every soul can find mercy and hope in Jesus Christ.

Publication date to be released soon.

We are so blessed and absolutely delighted to have Roseann working with us again, this time on special assignment to create the cover of Paul's life-changing book.

A New Voice For A Broken Soul continues to move through the various stages toward publication.


Award-winning book design, layout, and packager Erin Howarth of DDM publications worked with Paul to create an interior design that compliments the exceptional content. Paul has an extraordinary way with words, because he is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Nancy Carabio Belanger, from award-winning publishing company Harvey House Publishing, professionally copy edited the text.  John-Paul Belanger is also a vital member of the team who read through the book and offered his invaluable suggestions.

Currently, Paul is making his final revisions to the manuscript.  As he does so, award-winning graphic designer Roseann Nieman, from Niemanart Graphics, is working to integrate text, photos, Paul's concept design, and the magnificent image created by photographer Mike Nykoruk of Highlight Studios, to produce an exceptional cover.

Fr. Ben Kosnac is another vital member of our publishing team, and we are grateful to him as well for helping recreate the scene for the cover image, which is based upon an extraordinary event that occurs in the book.   

The excitement is building as the team gets closer to completing A New Voice For A Broken Soul.

We are overjoyed to be collaborating with premier photographer Mike Nykoruk on material currently in development to encourage, inspire, continue your faith formation, and lead souls to Christ.

Catholic author Paul A. Ray and publisher Michele Bondi Bottesi returned to Highlights Studios in Rochester Hills, Michigan to shoot the front cover of Paul's eagerly anticipated book, A New Voice for a Broken Soul.

Mike specifically designed and built the set in his studio to create the image for the front cover.


The striking image is based on a vision granted to Paul following his miraculous healing by Jesus Christ from an addiction to alcohol.

Photographing the various sets, which involved water, alcohol, hope, healing, love, mercy, an altar, and a flower, began at 11:00 and was wrapped up for the day at 4:00. Mike is going to finish photographing the image sans his assistants after acquiring an empty, broken whiskey bottle.

Then, following many hours at his desk to create the final image from the many pictures that were taken, Mike will provide us the cover image. It will then be given to award-winning graphic designer Roseann Nieman of Niemanart Graphics, director of graphic design at Joseph Karl Publishing, who will complete the front and back covers.

Paul's life-changing book is moving well through the many steps toward publication, and Joseph Karl Publishing just cannot wait to present it to you. Paul's account of God's miraculous and unfathomable love and mercy is a reminder to us all that we are loved and valued beyond measure.
